As my editor on Sirens, Jacob Edwards was meticulous, demanding, diligent and incredibly supportive. He has all the charm of an assassin: quietly slipping in a little note that makes an author realise he’s cocked up and must re-draft from scratch. I might have pulled my hair out but knew he was getting the best out of me. He never tired and he never dropped his standards. I owe Jacob Edwards a great deal. I suspect he lives in permanent shadow on the other side of the world. One day I might even meet Jacob Edwards.
