Orange Whip? Orange Whip? Three Orange Whips!

One book that I would dearly love to write is a novelisation of The Blues Brothers and The Blues Brothers 2000 -- not merely a 'he did that, she sung that, they crashed that' narration, but rather a proper novel capturing the spirit, the culture and the evolving legend of the blues.

On the 17th of December, 2004, my brother and I embarked upon the Library Challenge -- a madcap though erudite mission to visit and borrow from all thirty-two of Greater Brisbane's libraries in a single, nine-to-five working day. I'd have thought that word of our exploits would have reached Dan Aykroyd by now, but apparently not. Granted, we didn't write our names on our fingers; and yes, we could have ramped up the recidivistic angle quite a bit, but even so…

Without putting too fine a point on it, The Blues Brothers is the greatest film ever made, and The Blues Brothers 2000, whatever people might say, came about for the right reasons and serves pretty well as both a tribute and echo. The soundtrack is in my glove box. The words are in my head. The Blues Brothers -- A Novel. It's in my blood.
